This is the first U.S. conference devoted to the work of Jean Laplanche.
This two-day event aims to:

Introduce attendees who are unfamiliar with Laplanche to his thinking, and explain his main ideas by way of a crash course on Laplanche.
-
Stretch Laplanche's thinking by putting it to work in the domain of the cultural and, in particular, in the areas of queer sexuality and race.
-
Explore clinical work from a Laplanchean perspective.
